Operation Ancestor Search

The OAS volunteers were at Ft Hood on Jan 9th.  The volunteers from left to right are:  Jim Scott Prez of Alexander Hamilton, Jim Nelson, past prez of Patrick Henry, Harry Walden, registrar for Alexander Hamilton, and Ray de Vries past prez of Alexander Hamilton.  Thank you gentlemen for spending time with our wounded veterans!

OAS Volunteers

Operation Ancestor Search is a free genealogy program offered to injured service members in military hospitals across the country.  Started by the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution, with participation by chapters such as Patrick Henry, Operation Ancestor Search helps veteran, Their families and caretakers discover their roots and better understand themselves through family history.  We are actively seeking volunteers to assist us in this very worthwhile endeavor.   If you would like to volunteer please contact Jeff Gammon at jjgm71@sbcglobal.net

 

 

Monthly Meeting for December

Patrick Henry Chapter, Texas Society, Sons of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting Sat, December 20th.  It was nearly standing room only as we filled the room with Compatriots and Guests.  Among the many in attendance was our esteemed speaker Bill Johnson who is a decorated veteran of WWII and was wounded during the battle of Iwo Jima, and  Mr. K.R. Wood who sang Texas ballads and Christmas songs.

Many of the chapter officers were in revolutionary uniforms as awards were presented by our out-going President Jim Nelson.  Person’s receiving awards were:
