Joanna Troutman’s Re-internment – Texas State Cemetery

The Joanna Troutman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution along with the Patrick Henry Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution attended an event honoring Joanna Troutman, the Betsy Ross of Texas.  Joanna was born and raised in Georgia and sowed the her now famous flag as many Georgians under Colonel William Ward marched to Texas to fight in the Texas Revolution. Colonel James Fannin raised the flag at Goliad after he received news of the Texas Declaration of Independence. dscn9141_2
