Patrick Henry Supporting Veteran Families

The greatest blessings that we have had this year are the privilege to sponsor several Veteran families for their Christmas Dinner and celebrations.  This past weekend, Patrick Henry Chapter of the Texas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution joined with the Andrew Carruthers Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Central Texas Returning Hero’s delivered Christmas Dinners to several Veteran Families in Travis and Hays County.  The Christmas Dinners have been generously donated by Chris Walsh General Manager at our Wimberley HEB Store.

One such family is the Holden family of Wimberly.  Stefani is an Air Force veteran who is taking care of her three grandchildren.  Saturday, we were very honored to gift Stefani and her family wrapped presents for their tree, gift cards to movies and Toys –R- Us, and a wonderfull Christmas meal provided by Chris Walsh at HEB.

Veterans Day Parade

Compatriots and friends of the SAR, DAR, and CAR,

Members of the Patrick Henry, Alexander Hamilton, and William Hightower chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution along with members of the Andrew Carruthers, Thankful Hubbard, and the Balcones Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, gathered today on the Congress Ave. bridge to march in the annual Austin Veterans Day Parade.  The morning was overcast and there was a slight chance of rain, but not a drop fell.  Spirits were high among the entire line and the crowd was jubilant.  Sounds of cheering erupted several times as we marched down Congress Ave towards the State Capitol building.  We saw many veterans  in attendance including several World War Two veterans. If you haven’t seen this parade I highly recommend it and if you haven’t marched in it, well there’s nothing quite like it.  Thank you all for your participation today and thank you veterans for serving our great nation!
